Sex-Linked Genes Equations

KEY:
XX = Female
XY = Male

X^C = Normal Vision
X^c = Color-Blind
Y = Nothing

X^C X^C = Normal Female
X^C X^c = Normal Female (Carrier)
X^c X^c = Color-Blind Female
X^C Y = Normal Male
X^c Y = Color-Blind Male

PROBLEMS:
1. X^C X^C * X^C Y
2. X^C X^c * X^C Y
3. X^c X^c * X^C Y
4. X^C X^C * X^c Y
5. X^C X^c * X^c Y
6. X^c X^c * X^c Y

Be sure to identify the phenotype of the parents, draw a Punnett Square for the cross, identify the genotypes, and identify the phenotypes.

Example provided in class (#2)
X^C X^c * X^C Y

Mother is a normal female (X^C X^c)
Father is a normal male (X^C Y)

The Punnett Square shows
Genotype:
X^C X^C 1/4
X^C X^c 1/4
X^C Y 1/4
X^c Y 1/4

Phenotype:
Normal Female 2/4 (X^C X^C and X^C X^c)
Normal Male 1/4 (X^C Y)
Color-Blind Male 1/4 (X^c Y)
