Lesson Plans 9/2-3/10

Benchmark: SC.912.L.17.9 Use a food web to identify and distinguish producers, consumers, and decomposers. Explain the pathways of energy transfer through trophic levels and the reduction of available energy at successive trophic levels.
Objectives: Students should know energy flow and trophic levels in food webs, and energy pyramids. Students should be able to identify producers, consumers, and decomposers, explain the pathway of energy transfer through trophic levels in a food web, and explain what happens to the amount of energy at successive trophic levels, and why this occurs.
Daily Essential Question: How does the movement of matter and energy through biological systems impact you?
Agenda:
1. Warm up - "Energy Flow"
2. Mini Lesson - "Intro to Ecology and Energy Flow" (Review Sect 3-1 and 3-2)
3. Work Period - Writing in Science p. 73
4. Closing - Review the Ecological Pyramids
Assessment: Teacher Observation and Discussion
Homework: Complete Writing in Science p. 73
