Lesson Plans 11/3-9/10

Standards:
SC.912.L.18.11 Explain the role of enzymes as catalysts that lower the activation energy of biochemical reactions. Identify factors such as pH and temperature, and their effect on enzyme activity.
Objectives:
1. Student can draw a representation of chemical reactions in formulas and explain it in words.
2. Student knows the role of catalysts in chemical reactions and the role of enzymes in organisms.
3. Student knows how pH and temperature affect enzyme activity.
4. Student can interpret a graph of the effect of an enzyme on the activation energy in a chemical reaction.
Daily Essential Questions:
Why are the actions of enzymes important to us?
How can changes in an enzyme‟s surroundings influence its action?
Agenda
(11/3-4/10)
Engage: "Lock and Key"
Explore: Jigsaw - Chemical Reactions and Enzymes
(11/7-8/10)
Explain: Teacher Reviews Chemical Reactions and Enzymes
Extend: Analysis of Enzyme Activity
Evaluation: Quiz on Section 2-4
Homework: Complete Analysis of Enzyme Activity
